ACT Blind Cricketers Visit
On Friday the 12th of June, three members of the ACT blind cricket team came to Sacred Heart to demonstrate how blind cricket is played. Tim Rees, a stage 3 student, is also a member of this team. In fact Tim is the youngest member of the team. Nick, Stephen and Cam demonstrated and explained to Stage 3 how blind cricketers bowl, bat and field. All three men are also members of the Australian team and have played against an English team in an Ashes match. The Stage 3 students were very impressed with the way Stephen, who is totally blind was able to listen and successfully hit a ball that was bowled down a pitch. Even more impressive was the speed and accuracy that Stephen was able to bowl at, once he was given basic adjustments. All round our students devloped a greater appreciation of how someone can achieve great things with a disability.

Mortimer Shield
On Wednesday 24th June the girls Mortimer Shield Tag League team competed in a semi final of this competition. In their first game the girls played Temora Public school and won 3-2. Olivia O’Connor, Emily Thompson and Lily Tiernan all scored fine tries. The girls then went into a winner’s pool to play North Junee Public. In a very close and physical game all of the girls played extremely well. At half time the score was nil all and tensions were high. If the score was to stay at 0-0 the girls would be declared the winners on a penalty count back. However, Junee crossed for a try mid way through the half and our girls had to work even harder to come back from this. A wonderful length of the field try to Emily Thompson saw the score lock up at 1 all. This was how the score stayed. Unfortunately Junee were the first try scorers and therefore declared the winners. All girls played their hearts out. Lily Hogan had a stand out game and was awarded Player of the Day.
